How to Build a 7000-Tank Zebrafish Facility in an Existing Structure in 50 Weeks or Less

An examination of the process and challenges of renovating an existing structure to construct a new, state-of-the-art Core Zebrafish facility.

Outline:  To present:  Site selection and accessibility pertaining to demolition and construction, relevant physical characteristics, the use of existing infrastructure, the impact of the project on the surroundings.  Additional considerations:  Design and layout based on workflow and ergonomics, customer needs and involvement and animal welfare considerations.

Bio:  Erik Sanders is Manager of the Core Zebrafish Facility at Washington University in St. Louis' School of Medicine.  It serves more than two-dozen researchers with 7,000 tank capacity and features cage washers as well as the first large-scale installation of Tritone Automated Feeders and groundbreaking solutions to water storage and filtration.
